How you can help

Please act now. No donation is too small.
The Trust can offer tax-deductible giving in the USA. If you would like to make a donation by cheque, please make it payable to 'Friends of Global Crop Diversity, Ltd', and send it to Global Crop Diversity Trust, c/o FAO, Viale delle Terme di Caracalla, 00153 Rome, Italy.
If you wish to help in other ways, then please consider the following ideas.
If you have questions on any aspect of donating to the Trust, please contact us at info@croptrust.org
- Write to the appropriate national government officials to explain the importance of conserving the diversity of our agricultural crops – for food security, to support efforts to alleviate poverty and respond to climate change, for farmers and consumers, for future generations. Urge them to support national efforts – the national seed bank, for instance – and the Global Crop Diversity Trust. Much of the support the Trust receives comes from development assistance agencies (those that provide “foreign aid”). Let them know what you think!
- Encourage private companies, civic or religious groups to support the Trust. Many are keen to engage in partnerships and to play a dynamic role as global citizens. The Trust offers a way for them to make a postive and lasting contribution to their communities and the world.
- Think of writing a short letter to a newspaper. Connect the the topic of crop diversity to a local event – a celebration or holiday involving food and diversity, a drought, concerns about farming, agriculture, nutrition, etc.
- Consider including the Trust in your will. The Trust is working to provide long term benefits for people around the world, and remembering the Trust in your will is a powerful way for you to make a positive difference for future generations. If you are interested in doing this and need advice or assistance, then please contact the Trust secretariat.
- If you want to get practically involved with this issue, then support and participate in local/national seed saving groups. It’s a great way to make a difference and learn more.
- The Trust needs publicity and our issue needs to be better known and understood, so please tell your friends and colleagues about us.
