Regional Strategies

The aim of the regional conservation strategies is to identify key collections of important crops on a region-by-region basis, and also highlight the actions necessary in each region to support an efficient and effective global system for conservation and use of crop diversity. The process consists of a collective analysis of the current situation, by genebank managers and other experts, of different possible regional arrangements for cost-effective conservation, and regional priorities for upgrading, capacity-building, collecting and research. Background information on the development of each strategy is provided on the title page of the documents.

The Trust has produced a set of guidelines to help the plant genetic resources community plan the strategies. Click here to see the Guidelines for the Regional Strategies.
