Cameroon has a population of over 24 million.

Cameroon’s economy depends heavily on the sale of its products on the world market. Fluctuations in the global prices of its primary goods—petroleum and cocoa—have made its economic situation unpredictable. Agriculture, forestry and fishing continue to play a notable role in the economy, as it employs over half the population. Sawn wood, cocoa, cotton and coffee are the leading agricultural exports.

70-81% of the food energy consumed in Cameroon comes from crops that are not native to the region. Most of these plants’ diversity is found elsewhere on the planet.
