Utilization of crop wild relatives in eggplant pre-breeding for adaptation to climate change for adaptation to climate change
- Grant No
- GS14005
- Project Description
- This project used wild relatives of eggplant in order to increase the diversity available for breeding, particularly concerning traits that are related to adaptation to climate change. Pre-breeding materials for the project were developed through interspecific hybridization from primary, secondary, and tertiary genepools in Southeast Asia and West Africa and advanced backcross generations. Germplasm was genotyped and evaluated and made available to users, accompanied by capacity building activities for Sri Lankan and Ivorian students in Spain.
