Improving finger millet productivity through exploitation of wild germplasm (eleusine spp.)
- Grant No
- GS15023
- Project Description
- This project aimed to address the low productivity of finger millet in East Africa through the use of wild relatives. The introgression of adaptive traits, such as tolerance to drought and resistance to blast disease and Striga, into farmer-preferred varieties was the main focus, using already available accessions of crop wild relatives of finger millet at ICRISAT and Maseno University.
