Trait discovery in bean wild relatives and their use in crop improvement for tolerance to major abiotic constraints
- Grant No
- GS16004
- Project Description
- Recent model-based estimates indicate that bean production areas and yields will be drastically reduced by drought, increased rainfall, and especially by high temperatures if no adaptation measures are taken. The purpose of this project is to develop a medium-scaled greenhouse methodology with which to evaluate the response of Phaseolus accessions to abiotic and biotic stresses. The consequential trait discovery in bean wild relatives will support bean production in the future.
