Trait discovery and deployment through mainstreaming the wild gene pool in Barley and Grasspea breeding programs to adapt to climate change
- Grant No
- GS16005
- Project Description
- In West-Central Asia and North Africa, low productivity of barley and grass pea is caused by drought, heat, salinity, diseases, and insects. This project oversaw the introgression of valuable genes from wild relatives of these two crops into farmer-preferred varieties in an effort to overcome biotic and abiotic stresses and adapt them to a changing climate.
