Temperate forages includes a wide range of crops from the Poaceae (grass) and Fabaceae (legume) families that originate from temperate grasslands around the world, occurring in every continent except Antarctica. Crops included in this taxa are: grasspea, ryegrass, lupins, alfalfa, and various clovers. Some temperate grain crops and their wild relatives are also commonly used as animal forages.
