1. Application

This privacy policy relates to

  • What information we collect from you and why,
  • How we handle information received or collected about you as an individual through the Website,

  • Your rights as an individual in respect to such information and communications.

It does not relate to information about companies held and processed by us.

In this privacy policy references to

  • “we”, "us" or "our" are to Crop Trust  whose registered address is at Platz Der Vereinten Nationen 7 53113 Bonn, Germany;
  • “the Website” is to www.croptrust.org and any other website owned or operated by us.

3. Information we collect

The information which we collect may include;

a. Any personal details about you as an individual which you provide to us through forms on the Website and emails exchanged with us or any of its personnel, such as your name, address, telephone number, job title, email address, credit card information, etc.

  1. General website visitors: 
  2. Newsletter subscribers: Your full name, email address, and optionally your age range, gender and industry.
  3. Visitors using the online donation tool: Your full name, address, mobile telephone number, email address, credit card information 

b. Your preferences and use of email updates, as recorded by emails that we send you (if you elect to receive email updates on our news and events).

c. Your IP Address, a string of numbers unique to your computer that is recorded by our web server when you request any page or component of the Website. This information may be used to monitor your usage of the Website.

5. Use of your information

a. Any information about you as an individual which we collect from the Website will be used in accordance with the  Crop Trust Data Protection Policy.

b. If you sign up to our newsletter, we may use your email address to send you information about our news and events. If so, you will have the right to opt out of receiving such emails anytime.

c. We may need to transfer your personal information to the following service providers for administrative purposes provided that Crop Trust satisfies itself that the third party affords appropriate protection for the personal data: Sendinblue, Stripe Payments Company, Paypal Giving Fund, CATAN - Crop Trust game (English and German versions), AmazonSmile. We may use third parties to carry out certain activities, such as processing and sorting data, monitoring how customers use the Website and issuing our emails. Third parties are not allowed to use your personal information for their own purposes. Providers outside of the EEA are Stripe Payments Company, Paypal Giving Fund, CATAN - Crop Trust game (English version), AmazonSmile. For these purposes your details may be transferred outside the European Economic Area (EEA) and you consent to such transfer by using the Website. 

d. We may transfer your personal information to Stripe Payments Company, Paypal Giving Fund, CATAN - Crop Trust game (English and German versions), AmazonSmile as part of the donation tool process, in which event we will take steps to ensure that your privacy rights continue to be protected.

e. We will not sell or pass on your personal information to any other person, except in accordance with paragraph 5(c) above, or if we are required or permitted to do so by law.

f. Under no circumstances will we hold payment details such as your card number, expiry date and security code. Where payments are handled through Stripe Payments Company, Paypal Giving Fund, CATAN - Crop Trust game (English and German versions), AmazonSmile , you should visit their website to view their privacy policy.

g. In order to effectively process credit or debit card transactions it may be necessary for the bank or card processing agency to verify your personal information for authorisation with an entity outside the EEA. Such information will not be transferred out of the EEA for any other purpose.

6. Cookies

a. Cookies may be used by the Website to allow us to recognise you and your preferred settings e.g. to store your ID and password for future sessions. This saves you from re-entering information on return visits to the Website. You have the option not to use this feature, in which event no cookies will be retained on your computer.

This privacy policy only covers the Website. Any other websites which may be linked to by the Website may be subject to their own privacy policy, which may differ from ours and we are not responsible for the content provided on any third party web sites.

Right to be informed: You have the right to be informed about your personal data being processed and why we process it.

Right to access: You have the right to access your personal data that is being processed.

Right to rectification: You have the right to request Crop Trust to correct any information you consider to be inaccurate. You also have the right to ask Crop Trust to complete any information you consider to be incomplete.

Right to erasure: You have the right to request Crop Trust to erase your personal data, provided that the grounds for processing are no longer applicable.

Right to restrict processing: You have the right to request Crop Trust to restrict the processing of your personal data, under the conditions set forth in the Crop Trust Data Protection Policy.

Right to object to processing: You have the right to object to Crop Trust’s processing of your personal data, under the conditions set forth in the Crop Trust Data Protection Policy.

Right to data portability: You have the right to request Crop Trust to transfer the data that we have collected to another organisation, or directly to you, under the conditions set forth in the Crop Trust Data Protection Policy.
