Coffee Isn't Just One Plant
Coffee's future depends on its diversity. Different coffee plants, including wild relatives, carry a wealth of genetic diversity. Some have traits that could help coffee withstand rising temperatures, changing rainfall, pests and diseases. The more diversity we protect, the more options we preserve for the future.
But to protect this diversity, we must protect the plants that carry it. Genebanks act as living libraries, conserving different coffee plants and safeguarding their valuable genetic diversity. This keeps it available to scientists and breeders working to develop more resilient coffee varieties.
By protecting coffee's diversity today, we keep more possibilities open for tomorrow.
