Saving Tea, Forever

Saving Tea, Forever

Demand for tea is on the rise. However, tea farmers are facing many challenges. Climate change and socio-economic issues are affecting production. Worse, most of the tea we consume comes from just a few old varieties, while there are thousands of types that can still be found locally but remain unexploited. Scientists could be using this tea diversity to adapt to present and future challenges but sadly this diversity is being lost. That is why the Crop Trust has developed a global strategy to make sure this diversity is safe and available, so tea lovers can continue to enjoy their favorite drink. This way, the tea industry, from farmer to tea house, can meet the growing consumer demand for tea that is produced more sustainably and equitably.
