Overview

Embrapa is an innovation-oriented company focused on generating knowledge and technologies for Brazilian agriculture.

The Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa) is a public company, linked to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa), which was created in 1973 to develop the technological basis for a genuinely tropical agricultural and livestock model. The initiative faces the constant challenge of guaranteeing Brazil's food security and a prominent position in the international market for food, fiber, and energy.

The Collection

As of June 2026, EMBRAPA conserves 262,451 accessions in Genesys, including 46,492 accession of rice (Oryza sativa), 32,354 accessions of beans (Phaseolus spp.) and 28,630 accessions of soybeans (Glycine max).
