Overview
In November 1974, the General Delegation for Scientific and Technical Research (DGRST) created the Senegalese Institute of Agricultural Research (ISRA) with the main goal of providing Senegal with a genuine research policy. The institute operates in the six eco-geographical zones of Senegal through a dense infrastructure system consisting of regional centers, national laboratories, research and production units and Multilocal Pre-extension and Experimentation Support Points (PAPEM).
Mission
ISRA's main mission is fundamental and applied research with the following objective:
- the development and progress of scientific and/or technological research;
- participation in its areas of expertise in the development of national development policy ;
- the promotion of research results , both at the level of the scientific community and at the level of all sectors of economic and social life;
- the transfer of scientific and technological knowledge ;
- training in and through research.
