- This project aimed to render the genetic variation contained in wild sorghum more usable. To do so, the Australian public sorghum pre-breeding team developed back-cross populations with wild sorghum accessions for small breeding programs that do not have the capacity to work with the small-seeded, shattering wild material. Outputs included: a BCNAM population of 1,000 lines (available for both breeding and trait dissection), sequence data of 10 diverse crop wild relatives, genotype characterization of crops wild relatives; GBS and phenotypic data on the BCNAM population.
