Dynamic trait specific GIS-based subset development of cereal and food legume landraces residing in the ICARDA genebank for deployment to screening programs
- Grant No
- Dynamic trait specific of cereal and food legume landraces in ICARDA
- Project Description
- Throughout this project with ICARDA, Syria evaluated 12,300 accessions of faba bean, chickpea, lentil, grass pea, wheat and barley for different traits including resistance to disease and insect pests, tolerance to salinity, tolerance to cold, tolerance to drought and low seed ODAP content. The project developed 45 subsets relating to particular traits of interest for 9 crops/crop groups consisting of 50 -1500 accessions. Eight subsets were sent to IPM group at ICARDA for screening to major diseases and 9 subsets were sent to international collaborators for screening different traits.
