Environmental characterization of target environments for the pre-breeding of crop wild relatives and re-assessment of conservation gaps in CWR distributions
- Grant No
- Environmental characterization of target environments in CWR distributions
- Project Description
- CIATconducts cutting edge research using niche and process-based crop models in conjunction with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technologies for identifying crop system and value chain vulnerabilities and targeting interventions including crop wild relative collections, climate change adaption strategies, and improved breeding strategies. We will develop and implement a spatially-explicit modelling approach to characterise trial sites where pre-breeding efforts led by the Global Crop Diversity Trust and its partners are potentially being carried out.
