Evaluation of Nepalese barley and rice collections for stress tolerance genes using molecular markers
- Grant No
- Evaluation of Nepalese barley and rice collections for stress tolerance genes
- Project Description
- This project with Agriculture Botany Division (ABD), Nepal Agriculture Research Council (NARC) morphologically and physiologically characterized and evaluated rice and barley accessions selected from germplasm collection at NAGRC-NRC. One hundred forty-seven (147) rice accessions were evaluated for blast and bacterial leaf blight resistance of which 69 accessions were identified as potential sources for tolerance/resistance, 177 rice accessions for flash flood tolerance of which 12 accessions were identified as potential sources for tolerance/resistance and 264 barley accessions evaluated for leaf and yellow/stripe rust resistance of which 125 accessions were identified as potential sources for tolerance/resistance.
