Increasing utilization of cowpea genetic resources by breeding programmes and farmers in Ghana
- Grant No
- Increasing utilization of cowpea genetic resources in Ghana
- Project Description
- Breeding activities aimed at addressing biotic and abiotic constraints have reached advanced stages: 180 advanced breeding lines have been tested to select superior adapted lines; the characterization of 30 cowpea accessions from the national genebank has led to the identification of landraces with desirable traits for cultivar development. The establishment of demonstration plots on improved varieties has also allowed easy accessibility to farmers.
