- Project Description
- The goal of this project was to improve the conservation and availability of globally important collections of vegetable germplasm, including collections of indigenous African vegetables that are held by the Regional Center for Africa (RCA). The project oversaw the regeneration, characterization, documentation, long-term storage, and safety duplication of 6,000 total accessions, including Abelmoschus (94), Amaranthus (290), Brassica (413), Cucurbita (178), Cucumis (51), Phaseolus (155), Solanum (1341), Vigna (3148) and African vegetable species Cleome (144), Corchorus (65), Hibiscus (35), Lablab (66), Moringa (12), and Vernonia (8).
