- Project Description
- This project regenerated 130 accessions of yam, 150 accesions of taro, and 2,000 accessions of rice. All propagated germplasm were of local varieties. Though traditionally propagated by farmers, these genes are at risk due to degeneration and low productivity. Still, their resistance to pests and diseases, tolerance to weather stress, and high nutrition content made these varieties prime candidates for work in genetic regeneration and improvement.
