Project Description

This project facilitated the regeneration of 263 accessions of yam. Outputs on optimized decontamination, shoot regeneration protocols, genotypic differences in the in vitro culture responses of Dioscorea species for micropropagation, and conservation were presented to other tissue culture researchers during the Plant Tissue Culture and Biotechnology meeting in November 2010. The presentations provided a means for public awareness and dialogue about the availability and possible utilization of yam genetic resources.
