- Project Description
- This project involved the regeneration of 450 accessions of barley, 450 accessions of beans, 350 accessions of chickpea, 550 accessions of finger millet, 125 accessions of grass pea, 400 accessions of lentil, 400 accessions of maize, 2,400 accessions of rice, and 350 accessions of wheat. The large variety of crops involved in this project augmented stores of the Nepal National Genebank, which had been only recently established. Before the construction of the genebank, temperature and humidity of the seed storage could not be properly maintained due to the irregular electricity supply and poor infrastructure of storing system.
