Genebanks and Seed Systems
- Grant No
- WP3 and WP7 Norway NMBU
- Project Description
- The overall objective of the BOLD Project is to enable national genebanks to take the lead in providing smallholder farmers in DAC/ODA countries with more diverse crops, in order to improve food and nutritional security and the climate resilience of seed and food systems. Global public goods will be translated into benefits at the national level by assisting national genebanks in obtaining, safeguarding, and using novel crop diversity, better manage their crop diversity collections, and back up materials safely in the Svalbard Global Seed Vault. The Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU) will be the major research and coordinating partner for WP3, because of its expertise in seed systems characterization and development. It has a successful history of collaboration with the Crop Trust.
