Since 2012, Rhodes College, in collaboration with the Crop Trust, offers the annual Steve and Riea Lainoff Crop Trust Fellowship in honor of Rhodes alumnus Cary Fowler. This 12-month Fellowship is open to recent Rhodes graduates. It provides them with the opportunity to develop an understanding of the Crop Trust’s work and the issues around agricultural biodiversity conservation.
Each Fellow has the opportunity to engage in ongoing activities and initiatives that provide a unique window into the working processes of the Crop Trust. The Fellows support the work of the External Affairs Team.
For further information on the role, eligibility and how to apply, visit the Rhodes College website.
My time as the Crop Trust fellow was completely transformative. From writing blogs and interviewing partners, to researching government policies and strategies, and finally to traveling to Svalbard to witness a seed deposit ceremony, I have been able to learn so much about the world and myself. The fellowship is an amazing opportunity to work at a fascinating organization that drives real change in the world and contributes to positive environmental change. I recommend all Rhodes seniors to look into applying, as this is a truly unique opportunity!
